We've completed restoration on the 1950's Marscot (fiberglass) Philip L. Rhodes WoodPussy. Photos taken Monday July 3rd by John Ellsworth highlight the beauty of these little catboats http://johnellsworth.com/Tony

This boat will be shown at the WoodPussy Nationals in Red Bank New Jersey, July15-16. Although original 1945 WoodPussys built by the Palmer Scot Company were in wood, the 21st Century WoodPussy is being built in fiberglass by the Frank M. Weeks Yacht Yard in Patchogue N.Y. www.wpcatboats.com . Original 1960's molds were refurbished to build these boats as close to the originals as possible. Cold molded WoodPussys are also being offered by Mark Angliss in Colorado www.anglissboats.com.

WoodPussy class information is found on the class website at www.uswpca.org

Shouldn't this one really be called a Glasspussy?

Rhodes was such a master of small boats. Maybe I go old fashioned taste, but every one he designed is perfect in its own way.

There were 27 of these beautiful Phil Rhodes designed catboats competing at the 60th National WoodPussy Regatta in Red Bank NJ last weekend, of less than 75 still sailing (est 12 "woodies").
See photos and news articles below).
Three of the boats were cold molded Olsen WoodPussys built in the 1950's or 1960's . One additional recently surfaced and will be restored over the winter for the 2007 season. New F*B*RG*ASS , woodPussys are now under construction - www.wpcatboats.com

WoodPussys will assemble on Long Island Sept. 9 for the annual Catboat Regatta at the Sayville Yacht Club and on Sun. Sept 10 at the Kokopelli Yacht Club on Oak Island, both on the Great South Bay.
The annual "Solo Bowl" will be held on Sept. 16 at the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club in Little Silver NJ.
Word has it that glass will be laid next week on Long Island, in refurbished molds, for the construction of the first fiberglass WoodPussy to be build in 40+ years.

Tony
