Been looking for a liveaboard so I can shuck my land lubber ways during the summer once and for all and I think this is the one. Its even close by relatively speaking. Any ideas how big a trailer I would need to pull her back to MB?

After hanging out with the Seabees for 4 years I picked up a few carpenter skills, so I think I can hammer together a few 2x 4s to support her- my uncle has a trailer he hauls his 235 on and Im thinking it may work for this boat.

Geeman is not far from Maryville. I am about 2 hours from there. Shipping it to you is not going to be easy. Lowboy trailer, a semi tractor, a crane....etc. I would contract with a boat hauler if it were me...It will be over 8'6 beam and might require a permit to carry her down the road...

You'll need a wide load permit from each state you pass through and you will have to follow a route dictated by each state. If it's over 13' 6" high on the trailer, which it will be on a conventional flatbed and cradle, you'll need a high load permit as well and a pole car leading the way. That could also involve moving overhead wires along the way, if they can even route you at all. You need a boathauler with a very low trailer designed to move boats.

How much money do you have for repairs to get the boat in the water? Looks like it will take deep pockets!

The troll returns.

Based on the previous discussion about a live-aboard boat, I very much doubt that Mr. Beach Party is serious about this. If he is then the chances of him listening to any real advice on the matter are slim to none.

I'm 20 miles from Maryville... it might be fun to go see it. Could be some good stuff on that boat and worth my dragging it home.

Is there a soul here who still takes this stuff seriously? C'mon guys? This is entertainment, not information.
I love it! Keep it up, beach boy.

I am not understanding all the negative comments here.

As far as the cracks in the planks, I fugure it should be fairly cheap and easy to fill them with a silicone type caulk and get her in good enough shape to get aboard for the rest of the summer. Then I can pull her out and take her back to Columbia somewhere and tnker around with paint and stuff like that over the winter.i

Sounds like a plan...go for it.

How much can it cost:

2 tubes of caulk $10
plastic sheet (to glue to hull below water level) $20
1 air mattress (to sleep on incase the boat sinks) $30
2 gallons paint $50
case of beer $20
Thumbing your nose at the high cost of rent - Priceless

so $130 and you're in like flint. Send pictures.

Yeah, right. With every new post it becomes more and more obvious that you are not serious and that you are just here to stir up trouble.

It throws the universe out of balance!

Beach Party, if you are, by any chance at all, just the tiniest bit serious, I will tell you that you will be able to buy a very nice home in South Carolina and have a mortgage burning party for the entire town on what you pay to have that old beauty put to rights.

maybe you could find a really really shallow berth for her, say something like 2 feet deep or less

I think a 16 foot trailer oughta do the job...

Beach Party, ignore the naysayers, grab the bull and run with it! I think that you could snake a broken down trailer, scavenge the wheels and axles, hammer together some 2 bys, get some rollers, hook up a 3/4 ton pick up, drive the back roads at night, and get back to MB without a scratch! Put the boat in the water, and Hey! Presto!, you've got the perfect party pad and sleep shack, no worries and CHEAP! The part about where they took it out of the water to fix a leak and it never went back in might be worth looking into, or not. Good luck, mate!

Well guys, I am up earlyand watching the final hour of my boats ( hopefully) auction. Wish me luck that the snipers don't get in the last lick on this one.

Is there a preference for one brand of silicone or paint over another for a wood boat? Some honest criticism is ok, but it would be nice if I win this one to get some real good advice.

Thank you.

Tim

I'm thinking that if you got that boat on a trailer, you better have somebody driving behind you so they can let you know each time something else falls off that boat so you can stop ,go back and pick up parts of your boat as you travel,,,,,,,

Did you win? The boat appears to not be too far from the Tennessee River. If you can patch it up you won't have to trailer it very far - just cruise down the river.

Will.
