I am looking for an International Dragon (sailboat, not the canoe) to restore. Anyone have one in the barn?

Thanks,
Matt

Someone who knows more than I do will be along in a minute - meantime could you give them some clues.

Where are you - wooden dragons are common and (relatively) cheap in Europe and rare in the USA.....

Where are you, what conditional limits are you willing to accept, what price range are you interested in, etc.

Not to scold, but many of us here get a bit leery of new folk who don't put any information in their personal profiles. We've been burnt in the past, ya see...

your contact information I may be able to help you. If you are in Australia or in Europe I can give you someone to talk to. If you're in North America finding a hull may take some time. If you are serious then I'd be glad to help.

Hi guys, Thanks for the help thus far. To answer some questions posted: I am located in Upstate New York. I fully realize the difficulty in finding a hull, mostly why I joined this Forum. I have been searching backyards and barns for some time now! I am looking for a boat I can return to raceable condition. Preferrably without having to replace all the fasteners, or strip someone's attempt to glass the bottom. Although if I can find the right boat, I would consider it. Right? I know of a glass boat or two for sale in the area, but have not seen much more than that. Anyone who thinks they can help my email is the same as my user name, just add @yahoo.com. Thanks.

HURRY.

There is a wooden one on ebay right now (http://tinyurl.com/mnkc8) located in Eaton, NY, but there is only 11 hours remaining in the auction.

It's in Ireland and they want 2300 British pounds which is what, $4K? Somewhere around there. Shipping is another $5K or maybe less. Go to yachts.apolloduck.ie and search for the International Dragon. That should get you there.

See www.britishdragons.org for details. Two boats in the 4K pound range.

4x1.8=$7200 plus approximately $5K for shipping= $12K US. Not bad for a boat you can put together and race from the get-go as these are listed.

in the Netherlands just sent me a note saying that he has a nice boat for sale in his shop right now. Doomernik does jaw-dropping work but from what I understand he has not really worked on this boat. It was restored a couple of years ago in England and needs a home. He will get back to me with a price (he suggested making an offer, which I believe winds up being a waste of time for both parties quite often).

If anyone is interested in this boat please let me know.

p.s., just got a note from Joop. They are hoping for an offer of 18K euro on this one. I'll get the link and post it.

At www.tomaszmajcherczyk.com. This is the boat listed in the woodenBoat magazine's classified ads this past edition. Asking price of $22K I believe.

It is a gorgeous boat. Oh, and don't worry. It's not a stainless steel rig, it's just stainless steel rigging :).

www.dragonclass.nl. There are some really nice boats here and the prices appear to be more reasonable than what we normally see at www.intdragon.org. Obviously it's the Dutch fleet web site.

Holland is probably the easiest place to transport a boat to the US or Canada from.

Check out the assortment at www.draken.nl. This is the Cancrinus Brokerage firm and they say that they can also arrange shipment from Holland. Wonderful opportunity to get into the class with some very reasonably priced boats.

I will be keeping an eye on this page myself.
