Any South Africans here know of a bookshop where I can go hava look at boatbuilding books? Everything seems to be ex-US or UK.

You might consider E-Bay , I have done very well buying boatbuilding and related books there . Abebooks [google]
is a great resource as well , if you have specific titles you are looking for.
Online research is time well spent , and don't forget our sponsor's
bookstore as well , it is a treasure trove . Happy hunting....

Ah, but he said "look at", not "buy"....

Don't know a thing about S. Africa, but you could try a large university library, or any maritime academy libraries, or specially any large maritime museums.
