Is it possible to use yellow pine to cold mold a hull on say a small day sailor? Will it just be too heavy? I have torn the old tongue and groove ceiling out of my old warehouse/ home. I have several large stacks of what looks to be old growth S.Y.P. and have been looking for ways to use it on a boat project. It is all about 3/4-5/8 thick and 8" wide by up to 16 ft. long. All of the nail holes are out at the edges so they could be trimmed off to give me about 6" boards. I thought that I could resaw these in half and plane them all to thickness. I am very interested in using this recycled wood both for nostalgia and for economy. It is always the cost that keeps me from starting that next project. It seems like I could build the moulds and plank with this material. Please let me know your opinions and ideas. I would really like to build something like a marsh cat. I just love the look of a catboat and the roominess and simplicity of the sailplan.
Thanks.

I've never worked with yellow pine - so I don't know about the weight... But strip planking with that wood may be simpler and waste less material.
