This is an item the caulker most often makes for himself.

Buy the nicest pizza cutter you can find, remove the blade ,refit with large washer, circular insert, this is the creative part. Iam on my third or more. Hint.. leave the household one in the drawer.

I used the tool they use for placing the screens in screen dooes. I think I may have ground the edge finer but other wise it was perfect.

So after a morning of cauking, I can fix the scren door so flies don't get on the pizza I'm cutting. Pretty handy tool.
Thanks guys-I get it.

Greg Rossel's book has instructions for building a caulking wheel... it's pretty straight forward...

I use the cutter wheel from a Rigid pipe cutter. Available at a plumbing supply store.

The wheel from a rigid pipe cutter- are you talking about their standard copper cutter?

I guess Rigid makes a number of pipe cutters. The one I use is about an inch and a half wide. The cutter it comes from cuts copper and cast iron pipe up to about 2".

I just bought what may be the perfect caulking wheel at a flea market for $7, then checked out the name online and discovered this company. Starting on page 6 of the pdf is the coolest collection of industrial strength wheels you'd ever want. They have very solid non-wobbly wheels that roll on bearings and also a very nicely shaped wood handle. - Norm
