I made some patterns one friday night a few weeks ago for another kids dinghy. Made a few mods, played around a bit. Anyway, today I picked up some ply and in 1 hour 40 minutes,( can you believe this, I'm still laughing about it) I scratched it out, cut it out and sewed it up. I could glue it tommorrow if I wanted. What a laugh. A spare couple of hours and I've got something to look at.

From bored and tired, to exhilerated in a couple of hours.
That's why we do it eh.

Do you think you could get them to fit inside a cereal box? That way I could sneek a few into the house past SWMBO. Adorable! I thought you had come up with a very nice shape when you played "Goldy locks & the three dinghys" a couple of weeks ago.

That's an inspiration, John. Besides the dandy little boat, I mean. My shop is so messy I can't bear even to go out and clean it up. Where to start? But by golly if you can do it maybe I can too.

Norm, boat corner is at work. I even had Waione in there one year oooooo ,9 or 10 years ago. So this is the thing. To keep boat corner alive, I have to make sure that it always has something in it. At the times there's no project it's simply better to make it too dangerous for anyone else to go in there.
Use it or lose it. ( or,make it look like it's being used)
Creative eh?

Here I sit in a cubical in a windowless office, and you can play with your boats at work????

Got any openings?

John B, you should really consider marketing the plans! Not only are the little boats functional, but they couls also add that naughtical touch for the interior decor (as you have already shown us). I'd be interested. http://media5.hypernet.com/~dick/ubb/smile.gif Seriously.

Pretty little craft you have there John. My next project is a sailing dingy for my son. From the look of your shop you are a woodworker also What is your specialty.

Any plans to make those patterns availiable to us less skilled designers?
Thanks,
Chris

Just think, in the time I've spent on the forum, I could have built an armada.

Way to go John.

I haven't really thought about selling plans. Surely there are professionally designed boats out there for that. This is just my mucking around for the satisfaction of seeing my Kids rowing around and dealing with situations, plus I must admit, the added satisfaction of being able to say " I made it ".

Anyway... good weekend away with one overcast and windy day and one real gem plus a beautiful 8 to 10 knot breeze to come home in.
I filleted it at lunchtime yesterday.Took an hour. This morning (before work!!)I knifed off the cable ties and weighed the bare hull at 7.7 pounds. 3.5kg. That will double I suspect.
