That's a beaut of an old Elto. Was my first outboard till a @#%$# cousin stole and sold it for dope money. Kicked his a$$ every spring for five years after that.

Here's a steam outboard built by a gentleman named Terry Williams.

Went down since it was only to Huntly. The event was held at Lake Hakanoa, which used to be an open cast coal mine until they stopped pumping the water out. It is an excellent venue but it rained something horrible and so I decided to leave the camera in the car, sorry.
There was a good array of steam engines and an ancient make-n-break stationary engine. Much of what was there wasn't necessarily marine related but thoroughly fascinating. There were about 5-6 steam launches and various odd bits with sails. But whether it was the weather or the people themselves, but they were - well - pretty unfriendly on the whole.
On the terrestial side, there was a good arrangement of Francis Barnetts (used to have a 125), an old Bugati racer, and a cool steam car. Some Clydesdales from Pirongia and a traction engine provided trips around Huntly.
Had some really good conversations with some anoraks and with Jay from Kerikeri, ahh Haruru, sorry :) Jay's crew are doing some really good work up at the Restoration School.
Bye the way, the outboard is seriously cool. Its in wonderful condition. It was also on display at the Waikato Boat Show along with a huge assortment of weird and wonderful old outboards from the oldest to the reasonably old.
