I go every year down to P'town to sail on one of the boats that come to this post-season event.

This year I sailed on the Sloop Providence.

You might enjoy the pix. They're at http://e-and-s.instaproofs.com/collection.php?event=8300

VERY nice!

I recommend the slideshow option set to nearly Fast -- the images are wonderful and focused on crewing / going aloft / sail-handling.

Great suggestion, and if you do the same thing for the Cotuit skiff races on elf's site it's almost like watching a sailboat regatta from start to finish. What a wonderful family event that must have been!

Ian said "Wow", which, as the photographer, I surely do thank him for. But you also might like to know that it's possible to sail on the schooners if you get there and buy a ticket. From my experience, your ticket buys you the trip, lunch on the boat during the race (most of the time), and the opportunity to pull on all those neat lines, sometimes even climb up the rigging to see what that feels like, and generally get blisters on your hands being part of the crew. Sloop Providence had 7 paying guests and they had to work since the standing crew was only 6 people aside from the skipper and his wife. So if you think it might be fun, trot on down to P'town on the Sunday of the weekend after Labor Day next fall and join in the fun!
