Me too Mickey,
I've learned alot, had alot of fun, and also something happened unexpectedly... I've become good friends with a number of the members, some of whom I've never even met.
This is place is awesome.
Thanks Scot!!

I just can't seem to stay away! :) RickAin't that the truth?!:D I dunno whether I should thank Scott for fuelling my addiction, or report him to the feds.
But it is a great place - made so by the company we keep here.

Mickey is just softening us all up before he tries to form a consortium to fund his new boat. Hold on to your wallets. ;)
But I'll toss my hat in the 'like this place' ring too...good folks, and mostly good advice :p. But I haven't been to the bilge once since it was established, so my views are biased in favor of rational discussion and friendly debate. :D
Tar Devil, I think it's only on Talk Like A Pirate Day they talk funny. Aaargh.

that would explain the relatively low post count.;)

This is a wonderful place. I'm still afraid of the bilge.
But I haven't been to the bilge once since it was established..
Maybe it wasn't called "The Bilge" then, but I remember a discussion on prop-walk in May of '02...

That is the purpose. Ya meet people who have an interest in boats and most of those seem to post above board. Granted, some make the dive to the bilge and others come up for air. but that is okay. With time, ya figure out who is a serious boat person and who is not regardless as to where he hangs out.
To those I have met. To those I would like to meet and hope to in the future..Thanks for being around.

So do I, even the biilge can be fun. But I'm inclined to get too serious about it at times.

I'm no doctor so I can't tell you the definition of "addicted" but I think I'm addicted in a big way. Is there a 12 step program?

What are the reasons this is a great place, besides the people and the ambience of wooden boats? This forum works. Another forum regarding another craft where I pipe in now and then could use some real help. I think the Wooden Boat Forum should be the example. Derek

If anyone tells my wife there's a 12 step program for WBF addiction, well, then, they're not my friend anymore, so there.
Seriously, you all helped me get through a really bad time (a bit of understatement that is) by giving me a place to go to keep the wooden boat part of me alive. I adopted a boatbuilding metaphor to rebuild my life. I've now built a frame for a better life, added a solid keel and I've been adding a plank at a time.
Thanks to you all for being here.
