Rosemary and I had a wonderful vacation in Maine last week. Spent a couple of days sailing with Bruce Fowler aboard "Emily Marshall".
Here's a shot of Bruce and Emily:

We were fortunate to be in Brooklin when the Maine Windjammer Association had their fall gathering of the fleet.
Here's a panorama of the harbor at WoodenBoat after they all anchored.
Unfortunately we were out sailing when they arrived, so I didn't get any shots of them roaring into their moorings.

TX for Sharing. I saw one windjammer sail in and anchor at WB this summer...a whole fleet...what a site. Tell us about the boat you sailed on. What a gorgeous one...great Transom.

The motorboat in Bucks Harbor is one just designed by Doug Hylan.
It was at the MBH&H Show. Nice fittings aboard her.

Clinton,
THe "Emily Marshall" is a 36' Samuel Crocker gaff yawl, built in 1946 at the George Guilford yard in Saugus, Massachusetts, for naval historian Samuel Eliot Morison. Bruce Fowler did a complete restoration of her in 2003 at Brion Rieff's shop in Brooklin. The ballast, planking, hardware, and spars are original - everything else is new. From what I understand, Bruce did a large part of the work himself. She was one of the boats used in the Craft of Sail seamanship courses at the WoodenBoat School this past summer. Here's a shot of her sailplan. There is another nice photo of her in the 2005 Calendar of Wooden Boats - she was Miss August. The Crocker yard sent me a free copy of her original plans in .pdf format. I can email them to anyone who is interested.

Thanks for the pics Dave. Looks like you had a great time here in Maine. Sailing, schooners, beaches, lobsters, biking, rowing and more. And you had good luck with the weather! It's been rainy here all weekend.

You're right, Steven - It was spectacular. I think we'll be visiting my brother in Falmouth more often. By the way, how is your son's boat coming along?

We vacationed in Maine 3 yrs ago, and went back again 2 more times. Since then I have been seeking local help. Its worse than drinking or gambling. We went out on Twig Bower's Heron, and I told him steeping off the boat that I was going to build one. He said start off small, I almost listened, or tried. He didnt say how many I could build. Now I have 3 boats and planning my 3rd build. I need help.
