This was my home away from home for many years. It is on the Island of Moorea, Tahiti, and located at the head of Cooks Bay. There was nothing in any direction for a quarter of a mile except for a tin shed that housed a generator that ran from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at night...I sold it 30 years ago and now a sprawling hotel complex occupies the property.....the original cost was about 1500 dollars U.S.

Nice.

What is pretty funny is that a few blocks from me here is a street called Sans Souci Street. Aside from the fact that it has some water frontage (on a very urban river from which we regularly pull tires, shopping carts, and other garbage), it is mighty different from the San Souci you knew! San Souci Street runs behind a busy commercial strip in a low income neighborhood with lots of old industrial buildings...

Similar to Bruce, but I was immediately thinking Harsens Island...

too many tourists maybe but never the less sailing through and exploring those islands brought a feeling of awe to me for the beauty and history there. i remember hiking to the overlook above cooks bay with the view of opanohu and cooks bay and feeling like i could have seen captain cooks ship anchored there still :) you must have some great memories of your years spent there.
wondering where you relocated too?

I sold the property in 1975...I still have the house and land near Chomburi, Thailand...the house in the Philippines is under several yards of volcanic ash...I wandered to Greece and the med for a while and about 10 years ago ended up in Odessa, Ukraine. I left there about three years ago giving the house(apartment) to my stepson...I had hopes of returning to Thailand and perhaps the Seychelles, but health is now a problem.
