Now this isn't a boat launching, but it's still kinda fun. You see, I've been a columnist for a home education magazine for three years now (yup, we homeschool just so me and the kids can sail whenever we want to <g> ). Mostly the writing has been a thinly vailed boating column, every once in a while I say a thing or two about education. Well, I'd been having so much fun writing about the kids and our time on the water, that I thought I would submit to some real sailing rags. Cruising World turned me down flat, politely saying they had enough pieces to last the next hundred years or so. Must be all those Pardee stories. Never heard back from Sail magazine. But I also sent a copy off to Seattle's local 48 North magazine, and lo and behold, a mere six months later, they're gonna publish the piece. Just heard today. So how about that? Can you christen a magazine article and a nascent nautical writing career with a bottle of whiskey?
