Aussie forumites, I was wondering if anyone knows if Jack Meyer, boat designer from Tas (?) is still around and contactable, anyone have any idea? I've googled the name to death with no result, but that may just show the level of my ineptitude.

Don't know that I want to call them myself, but there's two J Meyer listings in the phone book and one PJ.

Try whitepages.com.au

Thanks Bigfella,
before I started burning phone lines to Tas I thought a direct appeal to knowledgable forumites might yield some better results.

You don't mean Jock Muir do you?

edited to add: Jock has passed on, but many boats he designed and many he built are still around.
One of his sons runs Muir Marine, not a million miles from where you are.

The only Meyer connected with yachts I've heard of, is Vic, who owned Solo.

Thanks Shamus,
I know Ross Muir, but it is definately a Jack Meyer.

OK, I'll ask around. What did he design, or what is the context of the enquiry- in case it helps?

Thanks Shamus,
I don't know the extent of his designs, however I have a 50" ex cray boat that was designed by him, thats her in the avatar, and was going to inquire if there were any copies of plans or line drawings available, just a bit of a history thing to go with the boat and her story. I've done a lot of work to her the last 12 months, but you cant see it, got a fair bit to do yet above decks.

OK, I have some good contacts in the fishing boat world. This will change the direction of enquiry though, may take a little while, but with a little patience we should get somewhere. I enjoy this sort of stuff. What is the boat's name, or more importantly what was it called when it worked here? Any idea which port it worked out of? Any idea when it was built? Could you post a larger photo, or email me one? If email, send me a message via PM and I'll get back to you. Crayboats typically work out of Hobart, Dover, Triabunna, Strahan, Dunalley, Nubeena, Southport(less) in the south of the island- I'm not well informed on boats which may have worked Bass Strait.
