I have to explain up front that these pictures were taken with my new filter that makes everything look sunny and calm. Those conditions do not exist in the PNW hence the need for the filter. This is Baker Lake an hour north of me, the camp grounds are closed and its way to cold for jet skies. In 5 hours we saw 4 fishing boats and 2 other kayaks. The snow covered peak is Mt Baker; the snow is from last winter. The dinosaur like stumps are remnants of the creation of this reservoir and are submerged when the lake is full. My nephew has some great memories to take back to MN with him.

Beautiful...too bad the PNW is officially full and there's no room left for anyone else that may want to move where we sail, paddle, golf, hike and everything else outdoors all year round. Right.

I gather you have experiences the 'wonderful' traffic here then? I would say we are full!

Nice pictures Gary! Looks like a beautiful place. :)

Great pictures. What filter did you use?

One of my favorite places is Lake Ann near Shuksan...near Baker Lake.

Fall is great in the NW. The tourists have gone back to Ohio, California and other dubious places and we can have the place to ourselves. Don't tell anyone though.

Nice filter Gary. Did you put in by the earthen dam? We used to camp right below there on Depression lake.

Hey keep clam about the weather ,Eh;) A old Iver's joke maybe before your PNW time

You make the canoe? Looks nice

You at the new job yet?

BTW it's calm :D Last word your first sentence ;)

The only thing wrong in the pictures is the blue plastic thingy! Beautiful pictures though. If you don't want people to move to the PNW you post pictures of my part of the country! Not as pretty although I do love the desert and it does have some beauty (no rain) you just have to look harder.

Just noticed something kind of funny. You click the "Post Quick Reply" button and it says "Posting Quick Reply - Please wait"

Paul thanks for the spell check. :o The canoe is the 38 Special, designed by Bruce Kunz. http://www.northwestcanoe.com/store/product.asp?product_id=NWC10002A (http://www.northwestcanoe.com/store/product.asp?product_id=NWC10002A)
It is my first stripper; I built it about 20 years ago. With the repairs and modifications over the years it could use a complete overhaul. But it would be much simpler to build new. It shows how polyester over glass will hold up if it is maintained. It is a veteran of many trips to the Boundary Water Canoe Area in MN. It is the best solo I have ever paddled, and will easily carry me and an 80lb pack. It has made the adjustment to salt water but is more at home in lakes like Baker. Our launch site was at the head of the lake.

Here is another view of this incredible lake with mirror like flatness.

FYI, we have officially locked the access point on the NE side of Washington as we have reached capacity in this state as well as Oregon. Its really unfortunate but to keep a safe rate of enjoyment, we had to take these drastic measures.

Paul, Im up in Spokane, its plenty pretty up here. Have family in Dayton, its plenty pretty there too.

Spokaloo, your are definately right. Those are beautiful areas. Deer hunted many years around Dayton. I live by the Tri-Cities and there is even beauty here, you just have to look a little harder for it and have a good imagation. The gates to the NW should have been closed many years ago.

Shh, don't talk about how nice Oregon or Washington is. Otherwise those Maine folks will realize it is alot like Maine, without the need to pull your boat out of the water in the winter because we have warm winters.
Nothing uncivilized like below 32 degrees.
