I have posted still shots from this sail before, these two give a pretty good impression of what it feels like:

Nice video! For a second there, in the first clip I thought you were sailing in Boston Harbor with Great Brewster Island in the distance.

The lad at the helm appears to have no weather helm pressure when he makes a steering adjustment right at the end of the clip. To me that signals perfect balance, something I have yet to achieve on any of my boats at speed on a reach. But then was this a reach or perhaps more likely beating by the sail trim?

Looks good.

I see Yachtworld still lists her as being for sale. Any nibbles? I can see that selling a 57' boat which sleeps only 4 in any comfort - or are there bunks in the fo'c'sle? - might be tricky.

Don't fully understand why she's for sale also. None of my business, but I can't believe that restoring yachts for sale is a great business plan....? But what do I know...?

Yee ha! was the perfect commentary to go with that clip. Beautiful. What is the boat? Do you have the Yachtworld link for it?

Argyll - a 57' S&S Yawl from 1946. AIUI, Ed Burnett was involved in the restoration.

Ed, what are the two lines running under the boom - block at the gooseneck, and one on deck?

Looks as if they would work as clew reef lines.

She is indeed a beautifully balanced boat. That was a sail for a photo shoot, and in the name of making it look spectacular we had the lee rail about a foot underwater at times. All the time a finger and thumb on the helm is all you need.

Manners like that means you can confidently drive the boat hard with a small crew - the two lads I had with me on board were great but not particularly experienced. Sheets are just cracked in those clips and although the log was insisting we going rather slowly (you can catch the conversation in the background) I think we must have been doing 8.5 to 9 knots.

Correct, those are the reef pennants coming forward under the boom. The winch on deck to starboard also deals with the spinnaker halyard. The one to port is the main halyard, jib and staysail halyards are on the mast.
