I'm studying Maritime archaeology at the University of Bristol in England and I'm looking for a few articles (the voyage of Snorri and the the four parter on Replicas by Gilkerson) for a paper. There isn't a library in the country that I can find online that has back issues of WoodenBoat. I realize they can be ordered from the WB store but time is of the essence. Can anyone help?

Stuart Young stocks WB back numbers in the UK and sells them at boat shows etc:

Dalton Young Associates
Apple Trees House,
Water Lane,
Golant,
Fowey,
Cornwall,
PL23 1LF
UK

Tel: +44 (0)1726 833688
Fax: +44 (0)1726 833020

Web site www.daltonyoung.co.uk (http://www.daltonyoung.co.uk) appears defunct but I believe he is still trading. Find what issues you need from the WB online index, Stuart may well have them.

Edited to add: Or find someone who bought WB on CD before advertiser copyright gripes forced its withdrawal. Oddly, since I thought wider circulation was what advertisers would want.

Perhaps there's a forum participant on that side of the pond who has a set of the WB CD's.

I was there at Snorri's launch. Very exciting! Have you looked here?

Hodding Carter wrote a book about the Snorri voyage:

The Cruising Association Library has the entire run of WoodenBoat.

Of course. I'm a member (until I get around to resigning*), work 10 mins from there, and should get out of the office now & then.

Edited to say: Sorry, I just found out that copying publications in the library is not allowed, and I'd better respect the rules! Seems a little draconian if all you need is a page or two, but there it is.

* Nothing against the CA, but I joined mainly for access to their very handy overnight cabins on rowing nights, but now live in London so no longer have the need.

Let me know which articles you need and I can scan them for you. I have most of the back issues and if you come up with the issue number and the article name I'll dig it up for you and scan it. Won't take too long

Thank you all for your help...I need to put together a presentation for next thursday so I've got some time but not lots. I really do appreciate all your assistance. Also...I'm thinking of teaching a boatbuilding class here to demonstrate how a double sawn framed ship is put together...was thinking of doing a quarter scale working model of Sultana but might be a bit of an undertaking with students. Any suggestions?
