Some of us worked out a procedure for these -- just use the red triangle to report the message as spam to Scott, and post "reported as spam" in the message.

That means that the rest of us can ignore the posts until Scott finds time to delete 'em.

The spammers never return to read our replies, so it doesn't do us any good to do what cons call "Buying Wolf tickets".

Not sure how to explain this any more clearly -

Spammers join once and post messages to get people to click on links, or in some cases possibly get an auto-link from PC users viewing the page with mis-configured browsers or older Windows software.

THEY DO NOT RETURN TO READ THE POSTS.

Posting ANYTHING just plays into their hands, and makes the whole WB Forum experience worse for all of us. Posting rude statements is striking out at us, not them.

Here's what a number of us decided to do -- the first person to discover the post reports it to Scott, using the little red triangle icon in the upper right of the menu bar. They post ONCE with "reported as spam" or whatever. The rest of us don't post, so when we see a thread with a suspicious title and only one response we can ignore it.

We then ignore the post until Scott has time to delete them.

Again, anything else is playing into their hands, exposing our friends here to potential spyware/viruses and making the experience worse.

Here's an analogy. You are on your way to church and some drunk bum shouts obscenities at you. You walk another few blocks, go into church, stand on the pew, and shout obscenities back, even though the bum is out of earshot.

We all hate spammers -- personally I think they should do long stretches of hard time -- but we need to respond appropriately or we end up just playing into their hands and drawing attention to their posts.
