Al:
Today I received two different PFD's from Hamilton Marine. You mentioned one of them in a different post a while back. I got the exact one you mentioned as well as one very close to it but with a collar. Also got whistles to go on each. THERE, now I look like a pro with the fluorescent orange.
Thanks for the tip - they fit great but more importantly they give me the air of authority (as I stand looking in thte bathroom mirror) that has been so lacking. Ha, ha!

In addition to a whistle, I've also got a HemiLight on each of my PFDs. I've seen them at West Marine and some of the other stores if you need one right now, but Hamilton also carries them:

They're small, not too expensive, and best of all, they're automatic! I'm not fond of the lights that are switch activated. If I go overboard, I may not be thinking too clearly.
Granted, some folks think they look a little goofy, but if I go overboard, especially in reduced visibility, I want someone to be able to find me as quick as possible.

So what is the URL for the recommended PFD?
Currently I like the sportfisherman 'full vest' style with mesh pockets for cool-weather use, not very yachty or racing-approved but functional and warm...

It's under the thread in Misc. Boat related and is entitled "PFD's - do I still need one if..." Use the search thingy and if my teenager was home he could help me post the link myself but I'm an analogue guy caught in a digital world...

This is the one I wear most of the year - I like pockets too! Handy for carrying hand-held GPS, small pair of binoculars, bug juice and chewing tobacco.

But every now and then it gets a little cool, so I wear this:

Oops, looks like the Cap'n beat me to it. Okay, so I'll shut up and leave now, time to go do some Christmas shopping for the wife. Merry Christmas, y'all.
