Wow!
Was there anyone on board at the time who you could talk to (or wrangle an invite on board!)?

Hey, when I advertise a tour of St. Augustine to two Forumites, it had to include a boatyard tour :D

Spitting image of Purdy's Aprhrodite, restored at Brooklin a couple of years ago. Nice job by Hodgdon! And Brooklin.

Spitting image of Purdy's Aprhrodite,
Actually not, but Liberty is based on another boat of the same era, the 1935 Wheeler built 69' by 13'5" Saga. Hull form of the two boats is very different, Aphrodite III has a clipper bow, a reverse sheer, and very fine ends. Liberty sports a straight stem, conventional sheer, and modern flared bow coupled to a modern hard-chine deep-vee bottom full length.
When I drew Liberty's lines I included the distinct dorsal ridge down the transom as Saga. But when Sonny Hodgdon built the tank model with the upside-down stern-stem, no one liked the look. So we planed it off and made her smooth transomed, and thus rousing comparisons to Aphrodite III.

Tad,
This may stretch credulity, but honestly, my first thought was Saga but I couldn't locate my copy of Yachts in A Hurry, (probably on my boat) so I googled up every permutation of "Classic Yacht Saga" or Commuter Yacht Saga and all I could come up with was Billy Joel's boat, Bob Perry's design and a fair number of sailboats depending on how I worded the search. Then I Googled "Aphrodite" (recalling a similarity) and came up immediately with the Brooklin rebuild of Aphrodite and thought "close enough" which really doesn't qualify as "spitting image" admittedly.
Anyway, given how my last commentary(not to be cited) regarding a classic yacht tribute design was received in some quarters, I do hope you'll accept my honest praise regarding Liberty and how great she looks in every way. Congratulations. A modern boat to be admired and desired by classic yacht afficianados.

I wandered through Hodgdons when this hull was upside down during layup. Quite a sight. :)

Beautiful boat - even if her skipper doesn't under the concept of "No Wake Zone" in Townsend Gut...
(When you're that conspicuous...)
