I'm inexperienced. Would a boat built in 1989 need to be restored in 2006 normally? Or is it just the word that is so off putting? Is it like a tune up? Looks like a lot of boat for $4500.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. "Restored" can mean many things, I suppose. But I guess 17 years is plenty of time for damage to occur, if not cared for. Sure is pretty.

If it's the boat I think it is, it sat neglected and uncovered for several years at the Washington Sailing Marina.

Here's some more info from the seller, as well as a link to LOTS of photos ...

It is a real (winter) project right now, I am in the process of bending frames, I use 4 strips of white oak to make them 1" thick, laminated with epoxy.
Then there needs to be a new deck canvas (Dynel) put on and 2 planks need to be replaced. Also the rub rail and toe rail should be re-manufactured, this is less work and a better result than refinishing the existing ones. If you have to pay someone to do all the work, it will be expensive... There is a centerboard in the full keel, the rudder is hung off the keel. The centerboard has ballast in it.

Boot is on a 2000 galvanized LoadRite trailer (inspected).

One big sail, original, battery with shore power charger and solar panel, electric bilge pump with float switch. Everything is there, main sheet, life vests, fenders, compass...

The boat is not that old, built in 1989 somewhere on Long Island. The problem is that it was never covered right, just with a cockpit cover, and sun and rain did some "aging".

I know I have to rebuild all the frames before I can sell the boat, unless you are willing to do a lot of woodworking yourself.

Please let me know if you have any other questions right now, I know there is also some information available at Mystic Seaport, I got plans for the boat from there.

Somebody tell Joe. A project might do him good right about now.
