View Full Version : Paragon HF 2D Transmission parts HELP!!
If anyone could help with this problem it would greatly appreciated. I have my motors done everything ready to put them back in the boat. One transmission was fine but the other was allowed to sit for years with no oilcausing a rust problem. I have been able to secure all the bearings with the exception of one gear case ball bearing CC part number 2XE-401, there is a number on the bearing MRC 0091. The bearing easurements are 1 3/4" ID, 2 7/8"OD 7/16 wide. 25 7mm ball bearings. Every place I have called including Great Lakes power advises this bearing is obsolete. If any one has a good used one I would be deeply appreciate a call or a email.
Thanks

A few things:
1. Almost certainly you will get your bearing. Keep the faith.
2. Have you tried bearing houses in a large city? Brown Bearing is one I have used in Seattle.
3. You need to contact guys that specialize in antique engines. There aren't too many. You might try Stewart Marine or Peter Orton in Seattle.
4. You can put an ad on www.acbs-pnw.org. (http://www.acbs-pnw.org.) (Anyone is welcome to use the classifieds.

First you need accurate measurements of the ID, OD, & width I suspect your dimensions might be wood worker measurements, you need measurements to the nearest .001 or closer. Most unusual for a bearing to be made to the sizes you listed. Then go to a bearing supplier or post the actual numbers we will help find an alternate bearing.
I have been to three major bearing suppliers, they have all contacted there suppliers with no luck. I went to Great Lakes power they said this bearing is obsolete and cannot be purchased new from any supplier. He said if it could they would be selling it. His response was to try and find a good used one. I also went to marine parts finder in Vancouver they said the same thing the bearing is obsolete and suggested the same thing try find a good used one. I was able to get all other bearings for this trans except this one, its a problem. It seems the 7/16 width is the main stumbling block.
