Andrew Fagan and his 18' sloop 'Swirly World in Perpetuity' are about to complete a solo-circumnavigation of NZ.So what? you might ask.The voyage went as far South as the Auckland islands deep into the Southern Ocean, incredible (and a bit mad) say I.
Even more amazing Mr Fagan has done this with almost no publicity at all.Now people do things with no publicity all the time but Fagan has been a bit of a media personality/DJ/rock-star/author of long standing in this country so should know better.I only found out about his current effort on tonights news and was very disappointed to find that one of the stops he made was Lyttelton, our localport For the only information I could find (it's a bit out of date) on Swirly World go here:

I was thinking of buying his book. Do you have it and is it a good read? Nice to know he still has his boat and still sailing.

And lest she be forgotten: Acrohc Australis, at 12 feet the smallest boat to circumnavigate - from Brisbane to Brisbane.

I borrowed a copy,it's not a 'must have' as far as NZ sailing books go but it's an amusing read, includes details of his exploits with 80's kiwi rock band that make solo sailing look like an appealing alternative.
