My friend Kevin Durkin sent me a note last night that he may be exhibiting 'Weetamoe', one of his Dragon restorations, at the WoodenBoat Show in Mystic this year. I hope that everyone who is planning on attending will make a special effort to go by and meet Kevin and see his handywork.

Many of you may remember that Kevin is also the caretaker of the only US Dragon to win a gold medal (1968 Olympics in Mexico), US231 'Williwaw'. Kevin is in the process of bringing this treasure back to her former glory, an exciting thing for the Dragon class here in the US.

That's cool Mickey. I'll look forward to seeing it there.
It's gonna be a great show...

COOL. I have liked the lines of a DRAGON every since I was about 12 and got a book called THE LORE OF SHIPS. All about ships obviously and they had a section on the Dragon. Even then I had an eye for what were obviously lines!:o

I may have to firm up my plans to attend.

or on it's trailer, but I will find out and let you know. This is a great opportunity for us to get some new people interested. I am not sure that that's exactly what Kevin has in mind, but it's the way that I see it. I need to make up some business cards or something for the AIDA (our class association) for him to give out.

You know, the more that I think about it the better this idea sounds for everyone involved. I only wish that I could be there with him.

Hmmm... on the water would be nice, but on the trailer you could really get a look at the lines... Hmmm...

Thought I would post a photo of what a Dragon Class looks like for those who don't know.
