The wonderful Provincetown schooner Hindoo has been rebuilt and she's back. She sailed into Hyannis yesterday and was masterfully landed in an incredibly tight spot by her restorer-owner-master Kevin I'mblankingonhislastname. The interior's not finished but the new deck, extensive relanking, and all are finastkind.

Hindoo's laying next to Marmarlade for their starring roles in the movie "Chatham." Amazing what movies can do. They are going to incline Hindoo at the dock and throw a lot of water about for a storm scene.

Marmalade's star turn, if this really happens, will be a week from now in Chatham, when we sail sedately to a dock and then close-ups of one of the stars doing something sailorlike in the cockpit. Fortunatly the star, David Carradine, summered sailing in Cotuit under the tutalage of a friend's father and can do the sailor thing even more authentically than the Kung Fo thing.

But returning to the main point, Hindoo will again grace Provincetown. And Kevin knows all the bit about her Navy service, the post-WWII origins of the whalewatch industry, and Provincetown history and gossip. Anyone visiting our fair sandbar should take a trip. Magnificent.

Art Read needs to see this. Will she be going into charter again?

Yes, she'll be working this season. And Art is remembered on this, the Right Coast.

Hindu Owner/Captain is Kevin Foley? As you may know, Hindu sat on the hard at DN Kelley's/Fairhaven for quite some time while she dried out further, estates were settle, I guess and finally, Kevin got it under control. we towed her up to E. Boothbay over a year ago to undergo some rebuilding. She has now been back at Kelley's afloat and now underway again. She looks good/Best of luck (also-IAN-check your PM's)/ Cheers/JC

Thanks for the heads up about HINDU, Ian. Please, please, if pictures are possible, I'd LOVE to see what they've done with her. E-mail if necessary. Perhaps you could also tempt Capt. Foley to drop by here for a visit. I have LOTS of questions for him!

(Here's a poor quality reproduction of a photo I took of her with her "beach ball" gollywobbler up from back when I had her...)

There's a nice puff piece about her in the Cape Cod Times today. (www.capecodonline.com and look around)

Capt Foley has a site at:

http://www.theschoonerhindu.com/index.htm#

The plan is to incline her at the dock tomorrow or Friday and have the stunt men look desperate.

Yesterday I played location scout - the local knowledge to give them a selection of spots for the second unit crew to film Hindu aground and heeled over. I found the perfect spot.

On Saturday we'll run her aground in Lewis Bay and let her lay over for some distance shots. I gather they will lift that view of the boat, green screen it, and put in a suitably stormy background, which may be filmed at the base of the Hyannis Port breakwall if we get a southwester any time soon.

Ian, if you wait till tomorrow, you should have the storm , wind, advisories they speak of, snow may be in possibility too....not much but cold enough to support it.
Glad to hear of the good news ....good luck!
