I called yesterday to order some topside and deck paint. I wanted the same color scheme as the little Alden sloop that Harry Bryan brought to last years Maine Boatbuilder's Show. I knew the topside color but not the deck color. So I said to George "I'm looking for the color that Harry Bryan used on the decks of the little Alden sloop from the MBBS last year." "Oh, Okay," he says, "no problem, I know what that was." :D

It's on it's way right now. :)

Here's Harry's Alden:

The interior was pretty sweet, too:

The stove slides out from under the sink:

That's so you can heat water right in the sink... no need for a separate water heater coil, tank and pressure water system

As I read that I thought, "what an AWESOME idea!"....

... wait for it ...

"oh.... ooooh. Nevermind."

OK Steven - cool slide out stove, but does it gimble??

I do most of my cooking at 15 degrees heel or better/worse

But ditto as to Kirby's. :D When I called for interior paint, I wanted to spend 20 minutes discussing various shades of white. G's response was something along the lines of, "Interior. For a Concordia? OK." :D

I'll be heading there Saturday morning for some red lead primer and green bottom paint. I'll give them your regards.......

I think Harry told me the Alden sloop was built for a solo sailor who wanted just enough accomodations to sail out to Block Island for the weekend. Think very sheltered anchorage for mealtime. :D

My new deck color is 25% mix of Kirby's #9. Came this afternoon. :)

Cool story. Not often the local paint vendor can give that kind of service.

I was impressed with a hand written note he sent to me when I requested a color card...I'm on this System Three kick right now and am about to start testing some, but their color schemes and matching abilities pale next to Kirby's.
