Does anyone know where to get plans for these boats?

The Norwegian Boat company (link) went out of business - it was a side project of a rich buisnessman that never left the ground beyond their website.

I have emailed them for information but got no response and have scoured the web for plans with no luck. The history of the boat is interesting enough during Nazi occupation and the boat itself has very nice lines.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Why don't you email the Norwegian Maritime Museum and ask them if they know were plans can be purchased. You could also try the Norwegian Sailing federation since the boats are still raced.

I saw a Grimstadjolle and Snekke on display by NBC at Port Townsend in 2001.They looked nice but the prices were very high so I'm not sure how many were actually sailed. An even better choice though is the Oslojolle which had a centerboard rather than a fixed keel.I have an old book which devoted one page to the Oslo Jolle and has a list of it's materials .Several dozen were sold in the U.S. in the fifties and sixties and I think you could find them for sale in the Norwegian boat classifieds.

The book is called "Sailboating" edited by John G. Kingdon, published 1959 by Arco Publishing Co.Library of Congress number 54-9615.

It's a how to sail book with information about 27 different one design classes. The Oslo class sloop is 18' long with 102 sq' sail area.It looks just like a Grimstadjolle except it has a centerboard. It was designed by Erling L.Kristoferson who was responsible for other more famous designs.

I also meant to add that if you would like I could mail you a copy of the page from sailboating. The book is worth getting but might be hard to find.

If the Grimstad jolle is of special interest, you might send a question to:
oyvindtoft@hotmail.com He is listed as club contact for the Grimstad Jolle club here in Norway.
The Grimstad jolle is a very active boatclub. I am sure you will get an answer. If not, write here and let us know. Grimstad is on the other side of the country from me, but I'm quite sure any of us over here can give you some help in making contact.
I don't know the policy of the club, so can't guarantee plans, though.
