Any reasonable places to stay around Mystic during the boat show? I am finding everything booked or too $$$$. I guess I will try a little further out.

Not that I found. I'm paying more than I wanted.

Here is a new hotel about 30 miles (25 minutes) north of Mystic on Interstate 95 (exit 6 I think).
It is away from the coast, so prices should be reasonable (especially if you know how to use those internet travel deal sites).
It is also 10 miles south of the Providence Airport, about 25 miles SW of the Herreshof Museum, and 20 miles NW of Newport, RI. Kinda central to everything, but next to nothing (except a huge , new mall),

dd..Mystic is a year round museum town.. Prices vary but not noticably. Spent the night there in the first week of March.. Expensive then...too.
I would suggest calling the Chamber of Commerce or look into B&Bs.
The suggestions re: Rhode Island are good but you can go the otherway as well.. Up near old Saybrook...lots of motels but I don't know how expensive they are.

Look into the casinos (Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun) They're fairly close, and more likely to have rooms.

Last year we stayed in Middletown above Newport during the show. It was reasonable. JBreeze, that Hampton doesnt look bad either. We are bringing daughter and boyfriend this time and want to show them all the highlights you mentioned. It is their first time in that area. And her boyfriend is already sailing my boat!:) Something in the middle would work. It would be nice to be on the coast though.

Well, dd.. now you are talking pricey...:D Even most of the motels etc. in Mystic are not on the water so to speak.

SV, It would be nice to splurge for a couple days. Even with the high prices, most are booked anyway. I will figure something out shortly and see you all at the show.

dd.. may be too late.. The Griswold Inn in Essex.. It is a big weekend but if you are willing to splurge a bit.. Umm.. close to the CT River.. Fairly good eats, old fashioned bar.. CT. River Museum within spitting distance..
But, also very popular... More like a B&B/inn than a motel.
The Bee and Thistle in Old Lyme.. another option.. quiet, on a stream that goes into the CT River... Again, don't have any idea of prices...

I was gonna stay in the RV. Is there still a big parking lot across from Mystic seaport? There used to me.

You are competing for rooms with Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. I suggest you look south around Groton or further

Howard Johnson right in Mystic .92 miles from the museum has non-smoking rooms for about $150 a night, AAA discount. A little cheaper for a smoking room. See you there! Just booked.

Two Trees Inn about 8 miles away was about $170. Part of Foxwoods.

Are you still looking? Have you tried the Radisson in downtown New London? Twenty minutes from Mystic Seaport, right down 95.
