View Full Version : Irish Dragon needs a home!

As part of my duties as the Dragon dude I get all sorts of contacts about boats. Have I heard of this boat? Do I know so and so? You know the deal. One of the toughest parts of the job is to try and find good homes for boats that are not being used. I was able to help with USA231, 'Williwaw', and it was a very happy moment for me when she wound up being loaded on a trailer for Texas and my friend Kevin Durkin (see the last edition of WB).

I have had a contact about a boat in Ireland that needs a good home, and I would love to see her brought to North America and sailed here. According to the family who inherited her from their dad, she was the first and perhaps only Dragon built in Ireland, represented that country in the 1968 Olympic games, and won quite often in her home country as well as being sailed across the Irish Sea to the Clyde for the racing there. The boat is complete and from what I gather would need just the same amount of work that any older Dragon would need. The initial investment would be pretty minimal from what I gather.

Anyone interested please let me know. This would be an awesome project for someone and would be a help to the family in Ireland (they really want the boat to be sailed) and another boost to our efforts to get Dragons going again in North America. I do have one interested party but would welcome other interest.

I will be out of town for several days. Please don't worry if I don't get back to you until Friday of next week.

Thanks.
