I am presently rebuilding an old fiberglass Comet sailboat and want to frame and install a wooden deck so the boat at least has some character. My question is, should the deck be framed just as if the boat were wooden, deck frames tied into the ribs running down the hull to the floor or, could it be framed into a 1x2 epoxied to the railing on the inside of the hull without the added ribs? This is a hard chine hull. I'm concerned if the epoxied wood will last over time. I plan to sail the boat in both fresh and salt water. Sorry for the post on a glass boat, all my previous boats have been wooden and I miss them now!
