Thanks to Mark and Bill the Vire is back in the boat and running nicely. :) With cooling water actually flowing through the engine. :D

It took a couple of tries but we got it. It's nice when the engine is light enough that two people can just lift her out of the boat.

Just click on the pic for the video:

I cant ply it as I dont feel like a new flashplayer but I noticed the plumbing is incorrect or changed.

should go from the waterpump straight up to fitting under the exhaust, sombody changed it to go up to the side on yours. it is a royal pain in the ass in original layout but it cools the chamber.

put in stainless screws in the waterpump- you will thank me later!

I had a beatle fuel filter inline and even a outboard squeezebulb which helped the fickle thing start better.

if the flywheel pully is rusty make sure to keep a few belts onboard- the pits in the pully will act like sandpaper and eat the belt slowley and make the engineroom full of black dust.

if everything is installed try to plan to pull the motor in the fall and get a proper paintjob on it. sandblast the parts, new freezeplugs, 2 componant paint. it is easier to appreciate the little devil when it looks nice.
the better quality 2 stroke oil you use is less carbon deposits on the head. it is much cheaper in the longrun compared to a new piston.

Hi Steve: Sounds very nice. I've been nervously looking at the Bluejacket in our new boat; now I'm inspired to fire it up. Was also going to ask you about the construction of the rudder on Dancing Feather ... the rudder head on ours is very tired and I think I'll replace the whole thing. Your video clip gives me some idea what it should look like.
Cheers, Nick

Thanks Nick. And Mike, I don't think the plumbing is incorrect, this is a Vire 12, not a 7. And the waterpump bolts are SS. :) I've got the fuel filter in place, and I'll check the pulley. New seals are in and new freeze plugs. I'm just getting it going for this season. The plan is to completely do her over next winter.

Steven

Do you have any photo's? I assume that motor will have to stay on the other side of the pond.:)
