I saw a 'funny' near-accident with a Zimmer 21 launch in Sydney at the Cruising Yacht Club one afternoon.

The incident came about due to the samson post (with the dock-line etc) being very near to the engine controls.

The driver had taken an older couple for a spin around the harbour. They came into the dock. The driver went into reverse to slow the boat. The driver leaned forward to drop the mooring-line over the dock bollard when his knee or leg hit the throtle/engine control. The boat lurched into reverse and he fell sprawled onto the fore-deck (like a frog). The launch circled around with the driver trying to grab the controls. He managed to throw the motor into forward and stop the boat. He was muttering "Geeez, that was stupid".

The zimmer launch in Sydney was finished all bright (varnished) on the top-sides and cockpit and painted white on the hull. This one on ebay with its painted cockpit and shelter house looks better in my opinion.

Reminds me of the larger power boat with a bridge I saw being piloted into a tight fitting boathouse. Perhaps the boat has shucked some weight, or perhaps the boathouse had settled, but regardless, as the boat entered the house the header for the door caught the shifter and the boat "put itself" into reverse. As it dug in the elevation of the bridge was increased a bit so when the boat came back out, that same header now caught the throttle and slammed it all the way forward.

Kudo's to the skipper - he got it stopped before any damage occurred but I have to admit -I let him stew for a while before I went down to tell him what had actually occurred. :)

and they had to do it - right in front of the yacht club bar -- "hooorah!" Baahhhaaaaahhhaa!

I like the launch - but the controls are too close to the samson post - I've seen the results!

It's a nice looking boat but it is hard to imagine a less useful arrangement of space.

It would appear that the house has been extended a bit......
