Just picked the following thread off the Chris Craft list. Thought some folks here may be interested:
"Fifty (50) antique (many CCs) gathered at Clear Lake, CA in early June to paraded along the shoreline. It was perhaps the worlds largest boating "conga line" stretching nearly a mile an a half. What a sight. Many skippers, ready to race at the slightest provocation, resisted the temptation keeping the throttle in check and the line together running about 25mph.
If once is good, twice is better. This Saturday, the 14th, we gather for round two (2) of Get Around but this time on Lake Tahoe. The "conga line" will zip along the seventy (70) mile Tahoe shoreline. Twenty-five+ wooden boats tucked in close snaking along will be a challenge to photograph. Yes, but what a sight. Come with cameras, please.
Schedule - Circling Tahoe clockwise, we leave Meeks Bay at 9:00am. The return ETA @ Meeks is 3:00pm+/-.
The Thunderbird (twin Allison V-12s) will lead Saturday's Get Around Tahoe's seventy mile shoreline ( 9am-3pm) with a lunch stop at the Thunderbird's boathouse on the Eastside. Last minute plans to get chopper video from over head for CDs is still underway. And, forcast for Tahoe is 90 degrees with light winds.
