Yep, time once again to unload some of the accumulation on my hard drive. This is, for those just joining, the Alden-designed schooner 'Heron' in Camden, ME.

The major accomplishment of the weeks was that we are done planking! Woohooo! Well, not quite... There are two more strakes left to go, including the sheer strake, but those will be left off until the sheer clamps and beam shelves are in.

Nice to see her looking like a boat, finally. Sadly, these pictures lose a little in shrinkage. Originally, they were about 1.5 meg each, which was a bit more than my poor dial-up could handle. You get the drift, though..

Well yes, a mite bit of twist there. Went in without steaming, though just barely. The aft ends of the sheer clamps will be steamed, since 2 5/8" by 6" angelique doesn't bend too well. I'll post photos of those when they go in.

'Till then,
Jeff

I for one, am very glad you are taking the time to share these photos with us. I have saved all 14 of them so far.

Thanks and don't forget to take more, please?

Interesting to see the combination of old and new techniques working so well in a Carvel Planked vessel.

I visited Camden, ME for the first time last July.

My mouth is still hanging open. I am in AWE of what is produced in that small corner of the world.

"HERON" certainly adds to the wonder.

CHEERS!

Unload them off your hard drive? Please! I could easily look at a hundred more. Keep them coming.

Care to post some vitals on HERON?

Thank you.

A beauty, she is, and soundly built, too.
