Homesick for Maine or just want to check in on the goings-on in Boothbay Harbor? Check out the new real-time user-controllable webcam from Brown's Wharf. Tilt, pan, and zoom under your control along with resolution decent enough to read boat names out in the harbor and check out what folk on the deck are having for lunch. Voyeur heaven. Schooners and Friendships and lobstah boats oh my!

Just discovered the little camera icon on the site that allows you to capture the image you're currently viewing. There are a couple of big boats in the harbor this afternoon... for example:

Also have discovered that you can control the camera's pan and tilt by clicking in the image window. The farther you are from the image's center, the more the camera moves. It's more convenient than using the sliders. Makes tracking a boat moving through the harbor real easy. Haven't figured out how to do zoom other than using the slider though...

And btw, to go directly to the site without going through the thread Thorne posted, the URL is:

This afternoon's biweekly races took place through the middle of that anchored fleet. Eleven small boats darting in and out among the goldplaters made the deck crews some nervous :D

And tomorrow there will be even more boats to terrorize!!

Kidding aside, the NYYC summer cruise is here as Q. Foster mentioned in another thread, and it's going to be quite a sight, perhaps as many as a hundred boats if the article in the local paper is correct. I'll take pics and post tomorrow night. Then on Saturday IIRC they will be racing for their Queen's Cup (fwa-fwa-fwa ;) ) among the islands here. I hope to take pics of that, too, but it may be rainy and gray.

I saw some of that action... it looked pretty intense - especially with the camera's depth of field compression

So would this be the committee boat?

Pics of either/all would be great... the webcam's res is great for a webcam but nothing like real pics...

Didn't get pics. Very gray and hazy out... and pretty ugly boats in the main anyway.
