I took this while out for a sail early August. We are between Clapboard and Long Islands near the Portland Yacht Club. Who's boat? I have a couple of decent pics for you if you'd like...(naturally for free)

She looks like the Dorothy Elizabeth. Roger Duncan's boat that was recently for sale.

Yes, she's the 'Dorothy Elizabeth' and is a Ralph Stanley boat. She's moored about 6 boats to the South of mine in Falmouth, and is a real beauty.

Duncan chronicled her building in a lovely book:

We saw her out sailing on Sunday. She's a beauty. If any of you guys see us out sailing feel free to snap away. We're desparate to have some pictures of Talisman under sail.

Thank you all for the info. I certainly do remember reading about her in our hosts' magazine. Nice boat. The day we were out, the humidity bordered on fog and it was only a day or two later that the fog really did set in.

Jenny and I borrowed her folks Sabre 36 (moored at the PYC) for a three day cruise. The hope was to get to the Fox Is. Thor. to check out a few Dark Harbor 17's. The lack of wind and surplus of fog kept us only reaching Port Clyde. I can't complain, we had nice stops along the way. Five Islands was good, but I wasn't prepared for the nice treat that Christmas Cove was. A few nice woodies and the Coveside has a decent chef.

Hows your boat coming Andrew?

Hey there Tim! Been a while. When a DH 17 hit the cover of the mag I figured you'd have fainted like I did. (I suppose it doesn't matter if we hijack my own thread).
The progress is steady, but slow. In the time I began, Alec launched another DH 17 named Tiger. Both Phoenix and Tiger are moored between North Haven and Vinal Haven. I tried to get up to see them, but just couldn't make it.
If you read the article on Phoenix, I am making the same modifications to the design that Alec made. He's been a real help to me. I have mahogany scarfed to length to begin laminating a new keel, about a third new frames are bent in and I'm doing some final shaping to a new transom frame.

I even bought an extra magazine to cut up to frame the pics :-)

Steve,

Is that a Bear class you have there? I've been looking for information on them. Just got a link from another member forthe association. Or is she something else. Looks like a wonderful little crusier, something I might like to own down the road ten years or so.
