A most favorite part of the coast, the Sheepscot River.
It would take many years to explore all of its nooks and crannies.

Consideration is being given to locating a coal plant on the site of the old nuclear plant on the Sheepscot. That would require tugs with coal barges transiting Lower Hell's Gate and Goose Rock Passage daily year round. Two places that have the tightest turns, sharpest ledges and swiftest currents on this coast. Think Woods Hole... but barely the width of a two lane highway. Whirlpools and maelstrom. Kraken. Sirens. Scylla and Charybdis.

Lower Hell Gate is the nastiest current west of Passamaquoddy bay. Running commercial traffic through there is insane.

Looks awful cold and grey..... I'm sure it's a delightful place, but I would have picked a nicer day to shoot I think....
