I was busy working on dismantling and archiving the intior of Blue Marlin, Sopwith's 12mr from 1937. very exciting as it is 95% original..when my phone rang, A friend called me and asked me to come sailing, he needs racing crew in the Med for several weeks. Love to come but I got to go back to school (boatbuilding school) and would miss 2 weeks, plus the expences........dont worry about the expenses, can you come?...ask da wife....tell her the facts...ask the faculty....faculty said You are a fool not to go. I have not sailed such a boat in 11 years, and it was the peak of my professional sailing career then (Mariette). well told da wife, if the doors locked when I get home I will understand. So Im off to Menorca and then Sardinia.
oh I forgot to mention the boat.....

Make sure you get more than two weeks. I did Cadiz to La Maddalina about this time in '78. Left Palma and it took us 2 weeks just to fetch the straits....most of it spent drifting. Woke up pierside after 3 hours sleep the morning my plane left...never did get to shower...

Take some nice sailing gloves so you will look good and be taking care of your hand.

I was thinking a fresh bandage covered up with golfing gloves or such, looks kind of wierd with the michael jackson look but there is a reason.
I got antiseptic to rinse the finger after every race, hopefully will do.
