Had a wild weekend, what with a forging party in Eureka, a row on Lewiston in the Trinity Alps, and a nice sail on Butte Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Here are some shots from the latter, my friend Lenny crewed for me, and we had a gazillion short tacks to get to the head of the lake and one long downwind ride back. Managed to avoid the volcanic lava rocks lurking just underneath the surface in some places, great weather and good winds.

Ah, the high country. Only thing about Alberta I miss. That water cold on the feet?

Water was warm, surprisingly. Tried to sail there in late May but there was a foot of snow on the ground when we arrived.
Interesting rules on this little lake -- not only no outboards, but no electric motors allowed either. Oars worked well anyway.

Dingo -
Prescription. I get asked that question a lot, and nobody but a few Brits (Pommies to you, mate) is pleased with the answer:
I get 'em from an optician in the UK, Say Specs in Worcester, and don't think they are available outside the UK. Lived in Droitwich for a few years and Worcester was our market town -=- and a lovely town it is, although recently flooded.
Paul Say isn't really set up for internet sales, but here's his contact info:

Tell him David Luckhardt sent ya, and he can look up the frame info.
Despite the popularity of Harry Potter and his round specs, I've never been able to find them elsewhere. Opticians **hate 'em** because the prescription gets totally messed up if the frame loosens and the lenses rotate -- which can't happen for oval lenses.

Cheers Thorne I'll zap him an email Im wondering would the prescription here be the same thing anywhere else?
Still recall someone from here posting a link to a revenoor site where they sold the equipment and the specs were there all you needed to do was send them your script and theyd make em up... damned memory!
Anyways! Cheers mate

Well, other than having to make the prescription upside down and account for the light rays circling the opposite direction that they do in the Northern Hemisphere, no difference...
