... made the committment. The little gaffer is on the market and Lelia and I land in Washington DC on 10 October. The plan is to buy a cruising boat and take it southward before Chesapeake Bay freezes over. Can anyone recommend a B&B type establishment (read: cheap) in Annapolis for a week to 10 days to base in? Are there cheaper rental cars than Alamo? Can I buy lentils in Maryland?
Any tips gratefully received,
Regards to all, (esp. JohnB when did you get that second boat you rotten toad?)

Regards to you too Jeff, haven't heard anything from you since your trip through the canals, I've been wondering what you've been up to.
Sounds like a plan.

Jeff:
We live only about 20 miles south of Annapolis, right on the Bay. Very close to many marinas. Our next door neighbor lives in DC, doesn't come out too often, and rents his small Bay house out whenever he can. If you like, I can check availability for around October 10-20. You'd love the location.
October is prime sailing season around here, by the way. Typically gorgeous conditions.

Thanks for writing. We will be very grateful if you will enquire on our behalf - perhaps see you for a local brew in October whatever happens. What is a good local beer by the way?
John - since our trip last year we have just been working out the balance of our work committments - nothing to report. Your new boat is very pretty and I am sorry I missed out on all the fooforaw at the time. March ... we were somewhere on our Aus road trip.
