Hello, all!

I'm in need of brass (clinch) nails and brass box hinges, or bronze (clinch) nails and bronze box hinges, or copper (clinch) nails and copper box hinges.

I have a box of 2 1/2" copper cut nails, like the ones in the photo below, and need to locate a box hinge that could be patinaed to a near match.

A box hinge has a bent leg on one side - this needs to be 3/4 or 7/8" offset.

Brass cut/clinch nails would solve the problem, as I think brass box hinges can be had...anyone have a source?

The hinge in the LL corner is a brass plated chest hinge, although I'd have to modify it to look like I want.

Thanks, Jim. I'll give 'em a try.

FWIW, the copper clench nails are from Strawbery Banke http://www.clenchnails.org/

I'm still looking for the right combo....might have to make them myself

Anyone know a good supplier of 1/8" brass/bronze sheet?

Try WWW.HortonBrasses.com
If they don't have it, they'll direct you to another company who does, Very nice people. (Tell 'em I sent you! ;) )

Nope. Their rep and I lamented the demise of Brainerd Mfg, though.

See those 2-1/2" copper nails in the photo above?

They're from Atlas Tack Co., Fairhaven MA., not Strawbery Banke.
It's now a superfund site.

I think it's harder to find what you need on the internet than back in the dark ages when you just had to call people who knew stuff.

Hell Hugh... If you had half the tools that you left down here at the EBS you could make your own box hinges....
I get scrap brass stock from Horton for a buck a bag. Get some brass tube braze it on some flat stock and run with it.

I could use more tools....

Horton Brass. They have a box by the front door of scrap brass, slightly off pulls, hinges, bed parts, discontinued bits and pieces...

Oh, good. I hoped this wasn't a reference to Dr. Seuss.

Where is the front door?
