View Full Version : from the Belfast Paper, photos from the launch
Here's a link to some pictures of the launch. I'll be going out for a sail in a little while with some of the volunteers that helped make the restoration fun. She sails well, but I think could use some more weight in the bilge. It's a centerboarder, the board being 1/2" x 2' x 4'
steel plate.

Who designed the boat?
How long is it(LOD)? Beam?
That centerboard weighs 163.2 LBS.
Only about half is beneath the bottom of the boat.
If the boat is 20 feet LOD the stability is also a function of the beam.
Just back from the sail with 5 onboard. Included sailing up to a beach and going in for a swim. Also started out with a reef then later shook it out while sailing, first time I have tried that and it worked nice.
The boat is a 23' AR True Rocket, a centerboard sloop, from 1957. If I remember right, the beam is 7'6" and the draft with the board up is 18". She was built in Amesbury , MA and there were a lot of these made. I've only seen one other, moored in a parking lot, heading south. I'd love to find out more about the type, googling hasn't produced much.
