Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts (in this case, a drive belt) for old Sears Craftsman tools? I have a great bench-mount belt and disc sander whose belt has worn out, and a drill press whose belt is on it's way out.
I also have an old Sears Gamefisher outboard that still runs like a champ. Sears has detailed parts diagrams online but you can't actually buy any of the parts anymore!
Thanks.

Drive belts are pretty standard items. All you need is the width and the length. Most auto parts stores sell fractional HP belts (just don't get a standard fan belt).

As Capt. Jake noted, if this is a basic drive belt there should be plenty of local options from a car parts store to a well-stocked hardware store. If it is not a standard drive belt maybe you can tell us a bit more about what it looks like to help us figure out where you might go to get a replacement.

At worst, you may want to change the drive pulleys to fractional. then belts will be a breeze to get. Every one of my stationary power tools uses a fractional belt, even the old Craftsman that I gave away after rebuilding.
Bruce is right, we have a very well stocked hardware store in town that stocks all of these items. They even know how to speak 'hardwarese'. ;)

Take the old belt with you when you go so the seller can measure it and see the width. I get belts from the local NAPA auto parts store.

We do need to keep in mind that this might, say, be a toothed drive belt inside a portable power tool, in which case it might not be possible to get a stock replacement or start throwing on replacement drive pulleys. This is why I asked for more clarification. "Drive belt" can mean a lot of different things.

You might also try Sears themselves, I've been able to get parts for 30 year old Craftsman power tools--sometimes a bit overpriced, but hey, if you need the part and it's not a standard OTS item...

McMaster-Carr has the most comprehensive catalog of Vee belts multiVee Belts toothed belts, round leather belts that I have seen anywhere.

Thanks, everyone! McMaster had the exact belt I needed. It helps that there are industry-standard sizes and that mine (140XL) was still visible on the outside of the belt.
