I'm about to begin a complete restoration of the pictured boat. She is about 28', with a centerboard. Rig is ketch with a gaff mainsail and marconi mizzen. Engine is located aft of the cockpit.

Boat was built by Quincy Adams in the mid 30's. The boat was purchased about 15 years ago from an estate and I was told at the time that Atkin was the designer. However, I've been in touch with them and we've not been able to find anthing identical.
Any thoughts / assistance is appreciated!

The designer could be Fenwick Williams. He was active at the time the boat was built and practiced where the boat was built. The shape of the rudder and the stem are like other Williams designs. Send more pictures and you may get a positive identification.

Not a cat ketch. Hull is double ended and rig has a self tending jib. Should I post the additional photos here?

I need to scan the photos under sail. When I acquired the boat I sailed her for half a season until self-destruction began. The boat sails great, tracks beautifully and tacks much better than other double enders that I've sailed. The hull moves effortlessly through the water. The original construction and hardware are first rate. Planking is mahogany with the topsides double planked and bolted through the frames. Everything is set up for easy single-handling.
There have, of course, been some really bad repairs over the years.
Plan is to replace all the floor timbers, frames, keel, cb trunk, re-plank the bottom, and make a new mizzen mast.

She's beautiful, and she has an air of competance.

That's going to keep you out of mischief for a while. Best of luck with it - and we look forward to updates. Thanks for the pics.

She's very close to Phil Rhodes' West Island, a Block Island Cowhorn inspired forerunner to his more well known Tidal Wave.
See pages 34 and 36 of "Phil Rhodes and his yacht designs' by Richard Henderson. WI had a bowsprit and seems to have had more flare to the midsection than what you show, but is otherwise very close in almost every detail.
