Maybe I'll get her in the water this summer. :(
Windshield and various other hardware installed. The windshield frame is fir, the clear stuff plexi.

The engine is painted, decals on. I'm awaiting a new prop, transom clamp, wraparound cowl and throttle-shift controls.

Whoooeeeee!
You're close. Real close. I'm about to dismantle my building jig to make room in the shop for a cabinet job coming through.
I've been working on the boat since last year (off an on) and to date the only piece of the boat that's done is the inner keel structure.
Take a deep breath. Repeat after me....
"Almost there......"

Roger -
She looks GREAT! Just a wee little bit of patience now, and she'll be in the water exceeding all your dreams for her.
I'm getting my newest kayak wet this weekend, so hopefully we'll have some pictures to share after the weekend. We've invited over 100 people that have built boats at the museum over the past 3 years go join us for a blessing and launching with their boats this weekend, so if everyone can cross their fingers for good weather, we'd REALLY appreciate it.

I must confess, I know absolutely nothing about this sort of boat. In fact, I have never even been in one, if you can believe it.
But it looks GREAT! I wannago when it's finished!
You should be proud of yourself.

Rez mate...
Slow down... have a deeeeeeeep slow breath of the crisp cool fresh air... look over the water... check out the sky and trees... talk to your dog neighbor... or both... tongue.gif
Then look back at what YOU have created!!!...
Stand back and beat your hairy Native American chest :D .... and yell at the top of your voice...

Think about it all mate... a few months back that lot was a bunch of sticks in your shed and probably a bunch of folks who thought you were totally nuts and a fool to even contemplate what you were planning were giving you all the reasons on earth not to attempt it... and... a few short months later a few tools later a few little humps along the road and look whats sitting there all shiney in the sun!!.. YOUVE DONE GOOD GRASSHOPPER! :D tongue.gif

Wow Roger! I'll have to admit, I know exactly what you mean with the whole end problem with patience thing! You've been patient for long enough!! I think nearing the end of the build/restoration is the hardest part. In the begining you know it's going to take forever. In the end, you can see the boat on the water, if you only had this done....
Looks fantastic. Love the windshield.

What's that? Something about patience being a virtue? I'll bet your are thinking you are virtuous about now, aren't you Roger ;) . Anyway, FANTASTIC job! It will be worth the wait I'm sure.

Roger,
The runabout looks really great. First-rate!
I've seen only black Mercury engines for so long, it's hard to think of them as having a "colorful" past. Is that an authentic period color?
Did you find a source for the throttle-shift control you need?
Hope to see launch pictures soon. I'm sure she'll look even better with a wet bottom!

Thank you all for your kindness. Let's see if I can get all the answers straight.
Ken: Almost there. Only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades. smile.gif
Lisa: Your have my fingers crossed and my jealousy!
Shane: Native Americans do NOT have hairy chests! And I am quite proud of that fact. smile.gif
Wayne: I think I may be onto the controls. Cross YOUR fingers for ME, too, in addition to Lisa! The Mark series Mercuries came in three colors: Red, green and white, I think. This is actually, however, the same color as the boat hull, since I wasn't going after originality but I didn't want to stray too far away, either.
And thanks to everyone else for your kind words. I am take a week off May 13, and if I haven't got her going by then, I'm going to blow a gasket. On me, not the engine.
Best regards from the Rez,
R

Great lookin boat Roger. I see she is hitched up.
I bet you have been draggin her around town
showin her off, ain't cha. ;)
Where did the ape lady go? :(
Rog...it's beautiful, but I think you're stallin'. "Waiting for a prop?" C'mon man get her wet!
Now, about that windscreen...unless it's at least 1" thick plexi, you will rip it out of the frame yourself. You'll be standing up to watch for flotsam, and hangin on to the top of the plexi to stay afoot.
If she were mine, I'd take a couple of strips of much thicker plexi, route it out to slide down over the top of the thinner plexi, and fasten it to the 3 frame members.
Actually, if she were mine, I'd add a wooden top frame member.
:D

Ape lady? What ape lady? What did I miss???
I think you're right about the windshield, Don. I'm going to reinforce it some more, but I hope I won't be grabbing on it!
No, I haven't been dragging her around town, but I do take her out of the garage and into the front yard now and then for no good reason, Mike! smile.gif
What ape lady?????????????????????
