Has anyone had any experience with PE Luke. Are people satisfied with their stoves? Are people satisfied in dealing with the people there? I am about to get a brass and soapstone cabin stove for my wooden boat and want to make sure it's worth it given the expense. Thanks

Frank Luke is salt of the earth.

A summer resident neighbor has one of their soapstone stoves in his small den (installed by the previous owner, a CG Admiral) but I haven't ever been able to convince him to fire it up!! So frustrating!

Wish I could be more help.

We have a couple of their anchors and are very pleased.

I've never done business with them, but they sure do set the gold standard for fittings and gear. I've handled a couple of Luke soapstone stoves over the years and they are amazingly good items. If you've got the scratch, go for it! It will be well worth it and a boat like yours deserves the best. Seriously.

I have one of the old soapstone charcoal fireplaces.....at least 40 years old. A yacht was being salvaged on Phuket at the time and I bought the stove for about $50, paid another 25 to have it delivered to Chiang Mai where a couple of the Thai workers that was helping me at the time resurrected it...it looked horrible but cleaned up marvelously.....
Chiang Mai is high in the mountains....you don't need air conditioning but it gets a wee bit nippy at night and charcoal is readily available in the local market. It is mounted in the bedroom elevated with jade green ceramic tiles and is really very nice on a chilly night, reading by oil lamps (no electricity when I built the place)......although I do have pressure water.
The bedroom is about 14 feet by 14 feet, with the closets built into a wall so they aren't visible, and Sweet Thing and I would sit in this big overstuffed leather loveseat in front of the fire with a couple of nice drinks, and many nights just sleep there....extremely cozy.
