Also note that the plans should be lofted full size...without exception...There are some small errors in the 30-32 and 40 foot designs. Also some of the drawings supplied with the larger designs are actually drawn for smaller boats and the builder must scale accordingly. When lofting the 40 foot design we also had to create some construction drawings as we progressed and as part of the "as built" to supply the client and for future reference.
When (if) you purchase plans before you do anything else, make a set of copies to lock away for safe keeping as masters. If you damage a copy the DeCoux will not sell you a replacement sheet but insist that you purchase a complete new set of plans. As an amateur or professional builder, once you purchase the plans, you are on your own, as there is no "builder assistance program".
Lyle was generally meticulous in his work and was always (at least it seemed to me) very gracious with his time and encouragement and was happy when one of his "creations" hit the water.
