ACM postpones the next one (AC33).

Because of all the legal wrangling and supposedly the effect it is having on fund raising and the like, the SNG, ACM, and the 'Alinghi' syndicate have announced a postponement. The regatta will not be held in July, 2009 as previously announced but will be held at a later date with all indications being that the later date will be decided on in consideration of things like when the next soccer World Cup is played (I thought that that was going to be in Brazil, or is that the one after?).

Now for the fun part. If the NYSC rules in favor of the lawsuit brought by the GGYC against the SNG and ACM, Mr.Bertarelli has said that they will not appeal but will go ahead and sail a one-on-one regatta with the GGYC to determine the next Cup.

Isn't this fun? I think that at this stage the question is does anyone really care? What a fiasco. I am glad that I got my UITG cap when I did. That thing might turn out to be a collector's item.

If so, I really hope it will be in comparable boats with close racing and not like that Fay big boat/Conner cat affair. What a bore that was.

Also hold it somewhere exotic where there are huge angry sharks, erupting underwater volcanoes, maelstroms. Require cannon fire and fighting tops! Grappling allowed! Get Disney involved!;)
