Does anyone have an idea as to how much this tender should weigh if built close to the original plans? Thanks

The original plans should contain that information. Contacting the plans dept. at the Mystic Museum may be a source of the info. The Northwest School of Wooden boat building is also a reliable source of information concerning "Martha's" Herreshoff dinghy.

I assume you mean the dinghy on the schooner Martha? It's not too heavy, I've carried it around plenty. Probably 1-200 pounds or so. Depends on how waterlogged it is. Having used that dinghy I'm not particularly fond of it. Pretty, but not very easy to row. The carrying capacity is good though, I've been in it with 5 people total aboard.

I think he's referring to this "Martha's Tender", a 9' 6" design available through WB Store.

If it is the Joel White one, he quotes approx 105lbs

Martha's tender weight back in her modeling days was probably around 115. Now that she's gotten long in the tooth, there's no doubt she's put on a few pounds. I'd say she's probably over 150 now. Obviously, that starchy prison food didn't help her figure much. She's been wearing her shirts untucked lately, hoping to hide her pot. No doubt it's affected the trim on her Hinkley Picnic Boat (tm)!

Bloggs68 - thanks, that is what I was after. I am setting up to build this tender from the Wooden Boat mag. series in '82 rather than from full plans and the weight is the one fact that was not included.
Bob Cleek - trust you to come up with that - we can always count on you to get to the point of the matter <grin>
Thanks guys
John
