Cabin roof in 27ft Alan Buchanan. Made of 9mm Marine Ply + 2 layers glass mat , on beams 1 1/2" oak (at a guess), giving something like 8 bays to cover.

Getting condensation. Boat left in marina, albeit with a dehumidifier.

Any ideas of the best sheeting or whatever to give me insulation thro the winter and also as a help in the summer.

Here (Falmouth UK) we get average lows of say 5deg C but may get down to -10C.

Got to be thinnish + fireproof.

Thanks

I would prefer to think that a good increase in air circulation might solve the problem, a couple of solar vents plumbed to the bilge below the cabin sole and a small 12 volt fan........

My boat, a 30' Garden Sportfisheman (1948) had a terrific condensation problem. I cured it with a couple of 40w 130 V. light bulbs in home built air circulators. They're cheap porcelain lamps holder on boards. Coffee cans on three angle brackets stand over the lamp holders. The little bit of heat generated keeps the air moving and the overhead in my boat dry. Cheap, too.

I used 130V bulbs instead of 110V because on the lower voltage available, they'll last for eons.

If you want incandescent bulbs to last for geological time periods, connect a couple in series. A previous employer has two in a drybox he keeps welding rod in. They've been on continuously since the middle of 1945. He was 20 when he built the drybox.
